Aidan J. Shrowder
Drowning in shallow water
All you see is the chest you hold
As you long for breath
And of treasures never told
You see Him, and know you have to go
Chasing him you finally do,
But head above the icy waves
You see your not among few
They're all flailing around
They yell, calling for air
But they too; hold chests
Much to heavy for them to bear
I run and I cry
To each of the lost
Telling them to let go,
They know not how much it cost
But they hear me not
Even though I scream & shout
Their ears are below the ocean depths
All they do is look in doubt
Then I realize,
"I haven't done this right!"
I turn and I point to my God
the one who saved me from future plight
And all of a sudden
I watch their hands come loose
They break free from those invisible bonds
No longer destined for the eternal noose
And so I learned
in knee deep sea
We trust no discretion
But, for the One who sets men free
All you see is the chest you hold
As you long for breath
And of treasures never told
You see Him, and know you have to go
Chasing him you finally do,
But head above the icy waves
You see your not among few
They're all flailing around
They yell, calling for air
But they too; hold chests
Much to heavy for them to bear
I run and I cry
To each of the lost
Telling them to let go,
They know not how much it cost
But they hear me not
Even though I scream & shout
Their ears are below the ocean depths
All they do is look in doubt
Then I realize,
"I haven't done this right!"
I turn and I point to my God
the one who saved me from future plight
And all of a sudden
I watch their hands come loose
They break free from those invisible bonds
No longer destined for the eternal noose
And so I learned
in knee deep sea
We trust no discretion
But, for the One who sets men free
